Okey dokey, the engine is now rid of thick black crap, carb, carb box and oil metering unit off, head, barrel and piston off and ready for inspection.
Now im a big beliver in "prevension is better that cure", it's often cheaper, my scoot has covered 6850 miles on the original parts since 1996 and is still running perfectly. Spark plug would suggest there is no issues and a very nice red oil is lubricating the crank quite clearly looking through into the crankcase. But while its all working nice i think now is the time to fit a new oversize piston and have my original barrell rebored ! However after talking to a few bods for there opinions i will go with just a hone and new rings and clean ect together with new barrell to crankcase gasket, carb and carb box gaskets, fuel pipe and various other seals ect ect she will be as good as new with loads of miles left in her.
I think she would warrent a full rebuild in the future but not just yet......we will see !
More pics have been added to the photo section showing the various components....you may find them interesting and or educational, you may even wish to comment on them..........nice to see some engine part pics instead of just shiney scoots for a change !

Piston has def signs blow past caused by worn rings. But barrel still has hone marks on it so in good order. If were me id go with new rings and tun them in Oh yes and torque ya head down!!
